If you have a portable gas room heater you will know just how amazing these little appliances really are. Whether it be a natural gas or LPG fuelled heater it doesn't matter, when it comes to locally heating a certain part of the house or a specific room these heaters are a really good option for saving money.
There are many different varieties available today and also many different brands to choose from such as Rinnai, Paloma and Everdure and with all of this also comes a wide range of costs, some heaters are programmable, some have remote controls and some are more powerful than others.
Like every appliance in the world today these need regular maintenance to ensure the longevity of this heater. These portable gas heaters are designed to be easily maintained and as long as the manufacturers guidelines are always followed then regular maintenance is easy. BUT if you are not comfortable please always contact a licensed gasfitter.
The most important part of looking after your heater is allowing it to breathe easy and that means that the filters must be cleaned often. Now when it comes to the frequency of cleaning this will all depend on the environment in which the heater operates in, the more dust in the air the more likely that the filters will be needing more frequent attention.
I personally have seen a heater in operation that has dirty filters and it makes a big difference to the appliance, if you can imagine running a marathon with a rag over your face and then removing it again, the difference is huge. This is the difference between a clean filter on your heater and a dirty one.
In a recent video which I filmed I specifically talk about the Rinnai Convector style of gas room heater, but what I'am actually talking about in this clip refers to all types of portable gas room heaters and we can all care for our portable appliances which in most cases have been an initial out lay of approx $1,000 each so we want them to last longer than just a couple of years.
Hopefully after watching my short video on caring for your gas room heater it has given you a bit of help on how to care for your heater and maximise the life span and efficiency of the heater.
In the video you could see just how dirty the filters actually can get and what the new cleaned filters look like, it truly does make a huge difference!!
I also touched on how the actual operation of the heater is drastically hampered by dirty clogged up filters and just how much difference this can make. If you do notice that the efficiency of your appliance has slowed down and the filter button is not on it may just pay to have a quick look at the filters and double check that they are not dirty. The two appliances in this video did not have the clean filter lights on yet the efficiency of the units was still hampered, so it pays to keep an eye on them.
As I also mentioned that if you do not feel comfortable looking at this on your appliance please always contact a licensed gas plumber to do the work for you.
