There are many myths amongst the public when it comes to hot water. Many people think that a hot water service will last for 20 plus years or even that a hot water service never needs servicing! All of these are untrue and myths about a hot water system. BUT an even more common myth about hot water is the term used by the public of "instant hot water!"
The term "instant hot water implies" that the hot water will be delivered instantly, and this is not the case. This term is one which gives a false description of how the water will be delivered to a tap. What affects the delivery time is the pipe run length from the water heater itself to the various outlets in the property.
For example if it takes 5 seconds to get hot water from the system to the tap then this will always be the way regardless of what system you install at that property. The properties infrastructure is what determines the delivery times.
As licensed plumbers we always refer to these types of hot water services as continuous flow. They will continually operate and deliver unlimited hot water for as long as you need them to do so. There are typically 3 common sizes installed for domestic use or small commercial applications and they are 16L, 20L and 26L per minute of hot water delivery from the system. In Adelaide there is four common manufacturers of these continuous flow heaters: Rinnai, Bosch, Rheem and Thermann.
A continuous flow gas fired hot water service will give peace of mind that your home or business will never run of hot water. If there is power, water and gas onto the property these units will be the ultimate peace of mind for reliability. As far as the term "instant" goes well I think this will always be thrown around amongst the public.
With a growing population the demand for land is increasing significantly. With this issue many developers will opt to either excavate the ground and put some of the building underground and then also build into the sky to utilise every square metre of land available to them.
It is with this type of construction that pumps start to play a big roll in the transferring of liquid. Its not just storm water which needs pumping as this is the first thing people often think of. There are pumps used for the circulation of hot and warm water systems inside hotels, nursing homes and shopping centres. There are macerating pumps used for the distribution of waste from toilets and other sewer systems.
Once a pump has been installed we highly recommend regular servicing and inspection of these vital pieces of equipment by a qualified pump technician. At Mayfair Plumbing we help various customers across Adelaide and in the Adelaide Hills with all types of preventive and reactive pump work. Our company offers an after hours service to help when a pump is misbehaving outside of normal business hours, because that's when things always go wrong!!
